The French used to rival the English in their reluctance to learn another language. A frenchman abroad spoke French as stubbornly as Britons or Irish spoke English. But things have changed over the years especially in the business community. French telephone directories contain pages of language training organiasations and the law continues to put pressure on companies to provide ongoing English training for staff.
